RMS POS INTERFACE MODULE

Please follow this guide to Setup and Install the POS Interface Module of the RMS system.

 

You will be required to contact the RMS Support Desk to obtain the password for installation.

 

This POS Interface Module works seamlessly with RMS to record transactions from your restaurant etc. and in turn bill them to your guest’s accounts.

 

The POS Interface Module must be installed onto a computer which will run 24 hrs a day to monitor all incoming transactions.

 

Your POS monitor will show in your system tray as the icon below.

 

 

WHAT IS THE POS INTERFACE MODULE?

 

POS INTERFACE MODULE – is the RMS module.

 

POS SYSTEM – is the 3rd party software.

 

The POS Interface Module is designed to work in conjunction with third party software; this software is to be purchased separately to the RMS software.  Our Sales staff will make available to you a list of providers which we currently interface with.

 

For a debtor who is not a guest, setup a client in the RMS system, note the client account number and enter this same account number into the same debtor account in the POS system in the RMS field provided.  As the guest pays there account you must also receipt this money from the guest account in RMS.

 

Cash Sales are not debtors and thus do not go through the RMS interface.

 

Shopper-dockets are debtors within the POS system therefore must be setup as a client in the RMS system.  You must periodically charge a credit to the account to create a zero balance.

 

1. SETUP – Turning on the Module

Go To

          Setup Menu, General Information, Modules Tab

Tick

          Use POS

Enter

            Shared Folder Path

This path must point back to the shared folder on the POS server. E.g. \\server\c\program files\xxxx (the xxxx file would depend on which POS application you have chosen.

Save and Exit

Repeat

            On each computer with RMS installed.

 

2. SETUP – Account Codes

Go To

          Setup Menu, Accounts

Ensure

            Your POS account codes match those in RMS or visa versa

Save and Exit

 

3. SETUP – POS Options

Refer

          To your RMS Setup Manual page 33

 

4. INSTALLATION FROM RMS CD – POS Module

Insert

            RMS Install CD

Select

            RMS Modules button

Click

            Once on the POS button

Enter

            Using the password (Contact RMS Support for the password)

Leave

            All defaults

Restart

            Your computer

 

5. INSTALLATION FROM RMS WEB – POS Module

Go To

            www.rms.com.au

Login

            Using Client ID number

Go To

            Downloads page

Download

            Point Of Sale Processor version to your desktop
Install

            Using the Password (Contact RMS Support for the password)

Restart

            Your computer

 

6. RUN – Starting up the RMSPOS Module

Go To

            Start, Programs, Startup, Point of Sale

Enter

            The SQL Server Information

Enter

            The POS Shared Folder (See step 1)

Select

            OK

 

 

 

7. TESTING

Create

            A reservation

Check it in

Create

            Charges via POS software

Open

          Reservation account

You should see the charge appear within 60 seconds of creating the transaction.
